Selected Sedgefield – good ground on this undulating and sharp track
1.12 Cillurid blitzed in over C&d last time when given a far more positive ride , but the 7 pound hit is hefty and preference is for the lightly raced Little Orange , a good 2nd at Kelso last time behind a progressive type and today’s longer trip a clear bonus .
¼ pt win Little Orange @ 11/2
1.47 Very open but I can’t understand the support for Leopards Rock , who is 19 pounds out of the handicap and another one prominent In the market , Countister , has run poorly of late off his new mark and the drop in trip can’t help. Chances can be given to all of Enlighten , Oasis Prince, Genever Dragon , Burnage Boy and Major Snugfit but the nod goes to Strong Team , a C&D winner who has held his form pretty well off his new testing mark.
¼ pt ew Strong Team @ 8/1
3.20 I was pretty strong on Supreme Steel last time back at Hexham , and he ran very well for a long way , but the softer ground took its toll late on . He was in the process of running a good 2nd over C&d previously until falling at the last and that form makes him a lively longshot.
½ pt ew Supreme Steel @ 11/1
3.50 C&D regular Just Call Me All will again run his race m but has been held off this mark of late .The ultra consistent Zafar goes handicapping on a very fair mark and the ground and probably C&d , no issues .
½ pt win Zafar @ 9/4
Selected Taunton – good to firm on this flat and sharp track
2.02 The consistent Catch The Cuban made a right fist of it from the front last time at Wincanton but was outpaced late on by the prolific youngster Fat Sam , but stays on the same mark and is proven around sharp tracks, which is more than can be said about his beatable rivals . A deserved win looks likely .
½ pt win Catch The Cuban @ 9/4
3.35 Molliana has been cleaning up In very modest heats in The Channel Islands while Laura Bullion has a bit to prove going up in trip . Cotton End was massively progressive last season , winning 5 times and taking her winning mark from a modest 93 to a very decent 121 and she’s on 122 today ! Form has been patchy of late but this wont take much winning .
¼ pt ew Cotton End @ 11/1
Selected Chelmsford City – all weather – polytrack
4.30 Connections most be sorely disappointed with the very well related Fearless Bay as he cost £230,000 , hasn’t showed a great deal and here he is in a low grade nursery off a mark of 61 , but is still the short priced fav . This trip is plenty far enough for 2yos and I’m happy to have a dabble on the lightly raced Niamh and Oonagh, who came from a long way back at Kempton , from the worst of the draw , and was closing in the style that suggests this longer trip would suit, which is backed up by the pedigree .
¼ pt ew Niamh and Oonagh @ 10/1
5.00 PREMIUM RACE
5.30 The odds on fav is the once raced Gin O’Clock , who brings the best form to the table with a smart 2nd in the York mud, so a few questions to answer down in trip polytrack , but this looks less of an issue as there are plenty of decent all weather winners in the family . Night Traveller belied his 100/1 odds on debut at Kempton at this trip with a close 5th in a decent maiden and is a nice alternative to the odds on fav.
¼ pt ew Night Traveller @ 7/1
6.30 A tricky contest with some unexposed and prolific types . Liverpool Knight showed us what he can do last time out at Wolver , with an easy win at this trip , but has a stiff 6 pound penalty , goes up 2 grades and untried on this surface . Bascule comes here on a hat-trick , relishing the recent step up in trip , but goes another 2 furlongs further today and is another jumping 2 grades with a 6 pound hit . The consistent Marshal Plan is rarely far away and arguably ran his best race ever when 2nd at Yarmouth at this trip and mark and as he’s proven at the surface , less to prove . The other three can’t be ruled out either .
½ pt win Marshal Plan @ 4/1
7.00 A good quality Class 4 handicap sprint with plenty of possibilities . Cooperation sluiced in over C&D last time but the 8 pound hit wont help , especially from a bad draw, but he is unexposed as a polytrack sprinter but curiously has been moved on again for just an Ok amount to Robert Cowell , the Sprinter Guru , so not totally ruled out . A strong pace is on the cards with recent C&d winner Araifjan sure to go out hard from a good draw , and despite just being a pound higher , this is a far deeper heat . He wont have the front to himself with the capable Papa Stour, who’s not at all out of this , and Great News, not on the shortlist at all, sure to be handy early as too is the fav , the highly consistent Hello Me , 3 pounds higher for a smart win at Wolver last time , with a next time winner back in 3rd , and is 1 from 1 here . She’s a most honest type who can go front rank and see it out really well and gets the vote . The well drawn pair of Musicka and Durdle Door are another pair with claims .
¼ pt win Hello Me @ 11/4
7.30 Despite coming into his latest race in modest form , there was plenty of support for Dutch Decoy and very well he ran to be a close 3rd . Nicely drawn and shapes as the extra furlong will suit . Pinnata and Guiseppe Garibaldi can’t be ruled out and despite both Endured and Lafan ticking plenty of boxes , they both have to cheat wide draws .
¼ pt win Dutch Decoy @ 4/1
8.00 Despite the big field , very little early pace , in fact the well drawn Kodimoor is very likely to do what he always does, to take them along , and got it right at Beverley earlier in the season on just a pound lower and went very close over C&D a few starts back when chinned by the improved Boy George . Will need to be caught .
½ pt ew Kodimoor @ 12/1
